Plastics Assignment


Overall Expectation:  to evaluate how the physical and or chemical properties of a substance relate to its use, environmental or health impacts.

 

1.  Design a testable question about plastics.

(It may involve comparing different types of plastics or compare plastics to other substances.)

 

2. Write a hypothesis about your testable question.   Use the If........... then............. because.................. structure.

 

3.  Methods

Conduct research from the internet to collect information about your topic.

This should include information about the properties of the materials.

It should also including information about the uses and health and environmental impact. 

 

This information may be summarized in a chart or series of paragraphs.

Design methods in the lab to test the physical properties of the materials.

 

Write your methods materials and observation out clearly and with detail.

 

You may do additional research on line to find evidence related to your topic. 

 

4.  Analysis

Answer your research question in an expository paragraph.

Summarize your findings.  How do the properties you study relate to the use of the product? 
Explain how this information is significant to people using this product.  Discuss why based on environmental, economic and or health issues. Explain the significance of your findings. (Make connections to environmental or health or economic issues)

 

5.  End Product  Option 1:  Report with references in APA format   Option 2:  Lab Report.
